Trees

I am drawn to trees almost as figurative subjects. I notice their gesture and posture: the reach of a limb, the weight of a trunk, the way one tree leans toward another or stands apart. Individual trees can feel awkward, graceful, battered, exuberant, imposing, or familiar. I often find myself responding to them much as I would to a figure or portrait.
