I'm pleased to share that my pastel painting, The Snowy Owl, Winter Visitor to the Dunes, received an Honorable Mention in the MidAmerica Pastel Society's 2026 Members Only Online Exhibition, Local Colors. The show runs through November 20 here.
The exhibition was juried and judged by artist Mark Ivan Cole, whose thoughtful commentary and recognition I greatly appreciate. It's a pleasure to have my work included alongside so many accomplished pastel artists.
Snowy owls are remarkable winter visitors to the Indiana Dunes and southern Lake Michigan region. This painting captures one nestled among winter grasses, its bright yellow eyes and pale plumage standing out against the muted colors of the landscape.
The original painting measures 14 × 11 inches and was created in soft pastel.
