32"x32", oil pastel and acrylic on glass.
After 15 year break, returning to the reverse window painting series. Oil pastel and acrylic on glass, the reverse side of an old window. Painting backwards and scraping details, adding layers to peek through the other side of the glass - this process almost feels sculptural and three dimensional. This method requires frequent observation of both sides, and neither side looks like the other.
When working on these windows, the brush work is loose, somewhat expressionist, and the figures are framed with architectural elements.
