Description:

Oil and Acrylic on window glass, 2004

Old windows have a lot of charm, and I think they make for a great compositional framing tool here. I'm blending figurative work, elements of architecture and abstract moodiness.

I plan to grow this series into a larger body of work. The process is a little tricky - you're working backwards, on the glass, checking it from the front to see the progress. Linework and details go down first, color later, then seal it all in with white. Things become opaque the further you get. And, everything is backwards from what you draw when you view it from the front. It's an interesting process, one I plan to experiment more with. The vintage frames do need sealing to protect chipping from lead paint.
