In the style of Open Impressionism, this is based off a photo I took on a hike in Michigan. Canadian wildfires contributed to the striking sunset. Open Impressionism is a fairly new style developed by artist Erin Hanson. It has elements of Impressionism with some basic key elements such as a limited palette of four or five colors, impasto strokes that aren't overly layered but rather next to one another and allowing parts of the underpainting to peek through. It's been challenging in a good way to work in this looser style which also requires more planning and paint mixing up front.
